Prerequisite: Open Water Diver (or Junior Open Water)

Minimum Age: 12 years old (15 for Deep Dive)

Max Depth: 30 meters (100 feet)

Confined Water Dives: 5 open water dives

Core Dives (Required): Deep Dive + Underwater Navigation

Elective Dives (Choose 3): Night, Wreck, Peak Buoyancy, Fish ID, Drift, Boat, Multilevel, Search & Recovery, Digital Photography, etc.

Core Dive #1: Deep Dive (to 30m / 100ft)

  • Experience nitrogen narcosis (the “martini effect”) in controlled conditions
  • Learn color absorption at depth (why red disappears first)
  • Practice deep dive planning and gas management
  • See what lives below 18m – bigger fish, different corals, untouched wrecks

Core Dive #2: Underwater Navigation

  • Master compass bearings and reciprocal courses
  • Natural navigation (sun, sand ripples, depth contours)
  • Distance estimation (kick cycles, timing)
  • Return to your exit point within a few meters
